I’ll be thinking of you all tomorrow from Cape Town, I’d have come if I could have.
Torty - I would have liked to have been there to support you and to share in the day, hold your hand and hug you in your grief .
So sorry for your loss- Sara, Sam , Tort and families and to all Mike’s grandchildren too.
Mike was such an integral part of my teenage years and of our friendship and I think of him with such fondness . He was such a gentleman , SO generous and kind ! When we walked into the pub his face used to light up as he opened his arms to us : “southern comfort and lemonade and a pint?” - with a wink . It was a lovely feeling to be so warmly welcomed. He always approved of us, took our side and encouraged us, my best friend’s dad !
Never a dull moment, he had the BEST sense of humour and always looked dapper in his matching shiny leather belt and shoes, neatly combed back hair … We laughed a LOT during those years and he was a fundamental part of growing up and our Forest years and beyond. I’m grateful to have known Mike and I wish you all nothing but love and comfort during this hard time .
I will be with you in spirit tomorrow and I hope there will be some peace amidst the pain . So truly sorry.
